Susie J. Lee merges digital technologies with physical materials, codifying phenomena into a system of experiential art. Metaphorical touchstones on the dynamic movements of human connections are evoked through the time-based activation of light, sound and water’s phenomenological properties. In particular, she explores the interstitial moments between what we experience and what we remember, what we hold on to and what we let go. These transitions are found through the blurring of illusion with form and motion with stasis. Mapped onto the axes of time and space, this system of art unfolds as experience and understanding do; perception and interpretation evolve and transform each other in an inextricable dialogue. In their final synthesis, these artworks exist in a place that is ephemeral and concrete, sensed and perceived, balancing in the crucial space between.
