Eli Hansen is often sad, confused, scared and paranoid.  His work flows from, and is muddied by, these psychological states, but finds crystalized form in a balance between his desire to make art with a compulsion to make useful objects out of necessity.  Early collaborations with his brother Oscar Tuazon and his childhood friends Joey Piecuch and Herman Beans were conducted outside traditional art contexts but have evolved into projects, exhibitions and installations in museums, galleries and art centers around the world as is evidenced by his already-impressive C.V.  As Hansen states, “We are brothers and friends first, artists second...We know each other’s weaknesses, sadness, and confusion...We work in the same way we have always worked together--as a community and as a family.”
